Consultaton Services and Second Opinions

Out-Patient Consultation

Dr. Aybar provides consultation to patients from infants to young adults. Because the decision to perform procedures requires a comprehensive initial evaluation, please note that procedures usually are not performed during your initial visit unless special arrangements are made ahead of time.

In-Patient Consultation

If your child is hospitalized at the Anne Arundel Medical Center, I am happy to help care for your child. Just ask the hospitalist to contact our office. If your child is hospitalized elsewhere, then other arrangements can be made on an out-patient basis.

Specific Conditions

Some patients are already diagnosed with specific conditions that we are skilled at managing as well. Additional conditions include but are not limited to:

Teens/Young Adults With:
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Celiac Disease
  • Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease
  • Eosinophilic Esophagitus
  • Malabsorption Syndromes
  • Functional GI Disorders
We approach digestive disorders from three main areas of expertise:

The Gastrointestinal System

There are many conditions that can affect the GI system and its many organs. The GI system begins at the mouth and extends to the anus. The organs it includes are the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and small and large intestines. The proper function of the Gastrointestinal System results in proper food assimilation and in growth and development in children.

Nutritional Care

Proper nutrition is essential in growing infants, children, teens and young adults. Diet should include a large assortment of different foods to meet the body’s needs. However, when GI disorders negatively affect how your child is able to use the nutritional value from food due to poor appetite, intolerance to diet, allergies and food sensitivities, or other problems, we are ready to step in with a variety of technologies to ensure the health of your child.

Tools To Evaluate and Treat

When more information is needed, beyond what is learned at our office visits, we turn to the following types of tests to get us closer to a diagnosis: Blood, urine, stool can be assayed. Breath testing can be used to determine lactose intolerance, small bowel bacterial overgrowth, and presence of Helicobacter Pylori infection. The studies that we personally perform, include upper intestinal endoscopy, colonoscopy, Capsocam, and Erectlmanometry.
